At her death an elderly Plains Indian woman experiences the afterlife believed in by her people, while the surviving family members prepare her body according to their custom. The collection includes a holograph, a corrected holograph and typescript, corrected typescripts (some on photocopy), a corrected galley proof photocopy, correspondence, notes. Paul Goble was born September 27, 1933, in Haslemere, Surrey, England. His interest in Native American legends began when he was a small boy in England, where his mother read the books of Grey Owl and Ernest Thompson Seton to her sons.
